This immersive conceptual illustration takes the viewer into the ocean for a closer look at what aquaculture may look like in the future. The integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) system represents a promising new approach to sustainable fish and seafood production in Canada. This farming system combines species from multiple levels of the food chain, taking advantage of the fact that wastes from one organism can be a food source for another.
